Frequently asked questions about your lease vehicle: fines and parking tickets

If you received a fine or parking ticket while driving your lease car, you can read what to do here.

  1. If you agree to immediate payment of the fine, you pay the amount in one lump sum before the scheduled date. There are three ways to go about this:
    • Online at www.trafficfines.be
    • Using the QR code on your official police report
    • By money transfer
Be sure to include the standard-format reference so that the reporting authority can handle your payment correctly. If you don’t, the fine will remain unpaid and you will receive a reminder from the reporting authority or the public prosecutor's office. If there is still no payment received, you will be summoned to appear in court.

      If you
fail to pay or pay too late, you risk a higher fine through an out-of-court settlement. If you still fail to pay, you will be ordered to pay an even higher fine.

  2. If you disagree with the offence or the amount of the fine:
    • Complete the online traffic violation form at www.trafficfines.be.
    • Print the completed form, sign it and send it to PB 30046, 1000 Brussels no more than 15 days after receiving the demand for immediate payment of the fine.
Important: If the public prosecutor’s office rejects your dispute, you risk a higher fine and may be summoned to the magistrate's court.

A legal entity is an organisation or institution that has the same legal rights and obligations as a natural person.

If you receive a demand for immediate payment of a fine as a representative of a legal entity, you are required to inform the police of the identity of the person driving the company vehicle at the time of the violation.

If you don't know who was driving the vehicle at the time of the violation, inform the police of the identity of the person who usually drives that vehicle.
Do so within 15 days of the demand for immediate payment of the fine being sent, otherwise you could face criminal charges.

How should you inform the police of who was driving the company vehicle

Complete the traffic violation form at www.trafficfines.be, then sign and send it to PB 30046, 1000 Brussels.

  1. If you agree to pay your parking ticket, it is advisable to pay the amount due as soon as possible, making sure to include the standard-format reference.
  2. If you disagree with your parking ticket, you should always contact the parking company directly.

The first notification is the ticket placed under your windscreen wiper. In case of late payment, you will be sent a first reminder to pay the original ticket fine. From that point on, additional fees will be charged. If there is a second reminder, this will be immediately paid by KBC Autolease (original ticket fine plus additional fees) and billed to the customer.

If you have already paid in the meantime, you can get the initial ticket payment refunded by contacting the parking company directly with proof of payment.

If you are fined for an offence abroad, follow the procedure of the country in question and pay on time. If you do not agree with the fine, you should contact the reporting authority.

Yes. In that case, the legal protection insurer KBC Defendo will cover the legal costs. If you would like to apply for legal assistance, e-mail a copy of the summons received by the driver and your choice of lawyer to schadedienst@kbcautolease.be or post it to:
