What does this job entail?

As our IT Security Analyst, you add your strengths to a team of specialists who commit themselves to operational security management every day.

We detect security threats via tools (EDR) and an alert system (SIEM) or are informed of issues by KBC employees. Together with technical teams and Information Security Officers, we investigate security threats and determine which measures to take in response. In doing so, we limit risks and make ourselves less vulnerable to cyberattacks.

We do the same for the application management of the systems we use ourselves.

In this team, you’ll find an important job with plenty of variation!

What do we expect from you?

  • You devote a large part of your job to developing and testing new use cases to automatically detect suspicious activity on our systems.
  • You work with existing use cases, but adapt, optimise and update them. After all, hackers are constantly developing new techniques of their own.
  • You guard the security of critical servers and systems.
  • You monitor alerts that are triggered by our security systems and ascribe them a priority. You escalate problems when necessary.
  • You dive into the log files of servers and systems to find the root cause of problems. Because you’re aware of how attacks happen, you know where you need to look.
  • You join up with our security architects to think about how we can improve our security monitoring and raise it to a higher level.
  • You help to test and fine-tune our security alerts and response procedures.
  • You keep System Managers and other members of the management team informed of security incidents and clearly explain what measures we can take in response.
  • You constantly ask yourself whether it’s possible to make improvements to the processes we use to reduce problems and risks. If there is? You propose the improvements.
  • You help our department to prepare for a new threat detection landscape in Flex and Mac.

Your key strengths?

Confident businesswoman working on laptop at her workplace at modern office.Blurred background.
  • You know cybersecurity risks inside-out. You recognise them and know what to do about them.
  • You have good knowledge of malware types and cyberattack techniques.
  • You have a broad view of IT operating systems and middleware (Windows, Unix, Linux, databases) and networks.
  • Your analytical skills help you to investigate problems and find suitable solutions.
  • You can find your own philosophy in our motto: ‘Security is everybody’s job!’
  • You speak and write clearly in Dutch and English. You adapt your communication style to the person with whom you’re communicating, whether they’re a technical expert or a senior manager. When you explain something, everyone understands it.

What can we offer you?

  • You’re assured of an excellent onboarding and a pleasant, collegial work atmosphere.
  • Across your entire career at KBC, we encourage you to grow as a person and as a professional. You can follow training courses in which you further sharpen your hard and soft skills.
  • Our offices are easily accessible by public transport. You’re also welcome to partly work from home.
  • Flexible work hours help you to balance your work and your private life.
  • We offer you a permanent contract and a competitive salary, supplemented by extra-legal benefits. Sounds familiar? Of course. It’s what you read in every job description. At KBC, we make a difference with our extended flex package. It’s too extensive to go into details here. However, we will happily discuss the various benefits—large and small—at your interview.

Can you help us make the difference?

I like working at KBC because of the inclusive company culture, the opportunities and the stimulation of personal growth. This top employer offers stability and respect for work/life balance.
