What does this job entail?
KBC's dealing room is a dynamic environment. It’s where foreign-exchange, bond and derivatives transactions are concluded, processed and safeguarded, using ever-evolving business and ICT systems. Positions and risks are monitored, products are processed, and communications with professional counterparts are established.
What keeps the wheels turning? The BIIO @ Markets organization (Business and ICT) develops, manages and supports a wide range of the applications used. One of their focus points is the Murex environment. Murex is a leading international software package that shapes the core of many dealing rooms worldwide. And that’s exactly why we are looking for a software engineer to join us to support and help develop the Murex application. Are you ready for the challenge?
What do we expect from you?
- You’re our go-to expert for end-to-end processing using the Murex system. Your expertise allows you to offer excellent insight into interconnections, associated workflows, processes, scheduling and reporting.
- You perform day-to-day support and maintenance tasks to keep the Murex system running at its full potential.
- You work closely with functional analysts and business consultants, providing technical analysis and developing Murex projects. You programme, set up workflows and perform other little tasks to optimise anything that can be improved.
Your key strengths?
- You have a master’s degree in IT, engineering or mathematics. What if you’ve got the equivalent in experience? We value it just as highly.
- You have experience working with Linux and Perl. You’re fluent in XML.
- You know the ins and outs of databases.
- You’re always happy to take on tasks and challenges independently. And if you’re required to work in a team? You’re just as happy, demonstrating the same professionalism and commitment.
- You’re driven, with a dynamic personality. You enjoy having responsibilities, thrive under stress, and are eager to learn.
- You communicate smoothly and effectively in English.

Can you help us make the difference?
Working in the international Tsmurex team is a challenge where collaboration and knowledge go hand in hand. You’re not alone, but have practical help from colleagues, 24/7. You have contact with from colleagues outside the team as well. They work in different entities such as the dealing room (traders), back office, middle office and front office. While this is all related to the Murex software packet (trading software), you also work outside software (Murex, Unix, scripting, etc.), giving you the chance to delve into the underlying hardware and to work with the entities there. This variation is exactly what attracted me to working at Tsmurex.
