What does this job entail?
The topic of 'sustainability' is rightfully high on society's agenda and the new European regulation CSRD (Corporate Sustainable Reporting Directive) is accelerating this significantly. These topics are also very high on our agenda and as a team we strive to integrate sustainability into KBC's core activities and report on them adequately to the outside world.
Pleased to meet you, we are the Group Corporate Sustainability Department: a small but growing center of expertise within KBC Group. We define the policy and work closely with the sustainability experts in the various departments of KBC Group to implement it. In the past, we always achieved good scores on various sustainability ratings and we want to keep it that way by continuing to report and communicate transparently.
If you strengthen this team as CSRD policy officer, you will help ensure that we do business in a way that is sustainable in terms of the environment, society and corporate governance. Your focus within this team will be data collection and analysis for reports and communication about important decisions and transparency requirements in this area.
What do we expect from you?
- You can process, interpret and structure large data files. A data-crunch mindset will definitely come in handy here.
- You prepare reports at the request of external parties: auditors, investors, regulators, rating agencies, edm. Sometimes you take the lead, sometimes you support colleagues
- You review documents, adjust the documents yourself and make presentations both internally and externally to arrive at the right insights and decisions. You ensure that we have useful, correct data as well as striking insights and a corresponding storyline. You document the external reporting and ensure validation by the auditor. Thanks to you, there is consistency across reports.
- Today, many data will relate to climate and environment but a broader interest in all kinds of sustainability topics will help you grow in this job.
- You will lead ad hoc sustainability initiatives at the request of management. You screen incoming questions, follow up deadlines on a project basis and take the necessary steps in cooperation with your colleagues and management. In doing so, you use your knowledge and experience of the underlying data and both financial and sustainability reporting to support these inquiries with facts and insights.
- In time, you will be increasingly involved in policy tasks within the Sustainable Finance Program.
Your key strengths?
- You have a master's degree and at least three years of experience in a job related to sustainability (ESG) and/or data. Preferably in the financial sector or a large consultancy company where you also learned the ropes of reporting and assurance. Do you have experience in data analysis and sustainability reporting? We are particularly keen on that! Even if you don't tick all the boxes, you might be the candidate we are looking for. Do you not yet have the desired experience in ESG, but do you have a first experience in (financial) audit or financial analysis with a great affinity for ESG? Let's talk!
- You can effortlessly extract the right information from a sea of data. You know how to structure it so that the insights and relevance are clear.
- You are not thrown off guard by ambiguity, quite the contrary! You approach difficult issues with a pragmatic mindset and look for feasible and achievable steps.
- You speak and write excellent English. This enables you to communicate and cooperate smoothly with everyone.
- No problem for you to plan tasks efficiently so that deadlines are met. You are strong in organizing and have a proactive approach.
- Because you handle confidential information, it is important that you are discreet.
- Word, Excel, PowerPoint, OneNote, Teams, Copilot ... you work with these fluently. You look forward to working with digital tools and data.
