What does this job entail?
KBC Asset Management is the Belgian market leader in asset management. We help clients to protect and grow their assets. We succeed at this thanks to teamwork and a range of smart IT solutions. As the business analyst in our team, you help shape these solutions.
What do we expect from you?
- As our solution owner, you shape the roadmap for the applications we use to support our new and developing investors. You tune this roadmap to our strategy, design the end-states, define concrete epics, and stipulate the priorities between the various strategic themes. You also follow up on the execution of the roadmap, and are always ready for the next sprint. You do this in collaboration with the project sponsor.
- As a business owner, you’re actively involved with interesting projects, at every stage from the original idea to the final delivery:
- You define the MVP, the business value and the priorities.
- You set the business requirements by fine-tuning them with the internal client, the office staff and your colleagues from the Legal & Compliance department.
- You also work in close collaboration with colleagues from Product Development, Product Management and of course, IT.
- You keep the project sponsor informed and up to date throughout all the different project phases.
- You work together with the product owner to prioritise the backlog and to prepare the PI.
- As SPOC, you bring people together. You take the lead in discussions and make it easy for stakeholders to make their decisions.
Your key strengths?
- You have a bachelor's or master's degree and more than 3 years of relevant experience.
- You have an analytic nature and think conceptually. By thinking creatively and charting all the pros and cons, you succeed in drafting intelligent and effective solutions.
- You’re fascinated by technology and the possibilities it offers. How do our competitors tackle it? What can we do (even) better? You’re happy to look for the answers.
- You share in the positive attitude of your colleagues. You enjoy working with others and take pride in achieving strong results as a team.
- You communicate clearly and convincingly. This has the effect of aligning various people from different departments on the same wavelength. And no wonder; everyone immediately understands what you’re saying, even when it’s quite complex.
- You take a pragmatic approach. In your experience, this has always proven to be the best way to move forward. If a situation changes, you adapt.
- You have experience in an IT context or function. Experience with agile working is an added value too. We work with the Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe); any familiarity with this methodology will be of great benefit to you.
- You communicate clearly and convincingly in English - both orally and in writing.

For the past two years I have enjoyed working as a business analyst at KBC Asset Management. This position has many positive points of which two immediately stand out. One important aspect of the job that I really appreciate, is the collaboration with different product and business teams within the organization. Thanks to open communication and trust, we successfully launched several epics. This cooperation brings you in contact with different functions, cultures and departments in a very short time, which strengthens your learning curve. A second aspect is the great variety of the job. No two days are the same. Both from an operational and strategic perspective you can take on tasks, you never have a dull moment. This also ensures that you go broader than just business analysis. Functional analyses, roadmap support, operational issues, ... in an international context are all part of your job. These are just two positive aspects to the position.
