What does this job entail?
As Dealer – Treasury Front Office, you’re part of a team with a crucial mission: making sure the KBC balance is managed securely and profitably.
Group Treasury incorporates these primary tasks:
- ALM – Asset and Liability Management: managing interest rates positions and the asset composition of investment portfolios to responsibly generate additional interest income.
- Optimising the composition of the balance sheet, liquidity and financing costs/mix of our subsidiaries and the group as a whole.
- Management of the short-term volatility of profit-and-loss and of capital ratios by applying hedge-accounting techniques.
The focus of the front office is to manage positions and the execution on the market. The team also covers currency risks and sets the internal prices for large or complex loans. As a dealer in this team, you start with a limited number of tasks. Over time, you’ll have the opportunity to delve into other tasks or to specialise.
We are a small, close team of specialists that fulfils an essential role within the banking activities of the KBC Group. Working with us, you’ll develop a broad view of treasury and work with colleagues from strategy and support
What do we expect from you?
You’ll take on one or more of these responsibilities:
- Cash funding on the professional short-term money market.
- Performing repo-transactions and collateral swaps to manage liquidity and improve P&L results.
- Managing the interest position in the banking book to meet targets, using strategies to apply a market view in the positioning.
- Managing a substantial bond portfolio where you take liquidity and credit spread into account, looking for the optimal timing to make investments (or sales) with external counterparts.
In the long term, you may delve into other tasks and/or specialise.
Your key strengths?
- You have a master’s degree, a number of years of relevant experience and a particular interest in financial markets and treasury.
- Your greatest strengths include your analysis skills. You notice every detail and see even the slightest links and connections.
- You find it easy to find evidence and to make decisions. You have no problems explaining your vision of markets and strategies.
- You share the same strong drive to succeed that motivates your colleagues.
- You communicate openly and convincingly in well-structured English. And if you do this in Dutch too? Even better!
