The role of our Compliance team has become more and more important over the last few years because regulations in Europe have increased in complexity. Moreover, both the regulations and the controls by regulators have become more strict.
In recent years, a number of large banks have paid high fines and suffered reputation loss because regulations were implemented incorrectly. This, of course, is what we want to avoid.
Compliance has an important, double role within our organisation:
- to advise business stakeholders, support them with training and create awareness around compliance topics;
- to monitor that the implementation of Compliance requirement is done correctly by the business stakeholders.
What do we expect from you?
Our unit dealing with Data Protection, Consumer Protection and AI is looking for a talented Compliance Monitoring Officer (CMO) to support a very dynamic team in monitoring the compliancy of KBC in these three exciting domains. In your role as CMO you will:
- Take the lead in the creation of the yearly Compliance Monitoring Program for Data, consumer Protection and AI
- Execute the yearly Compliance Monitoring Progam: you check whether certain aspects of regulations (GDPR, etc.) are correctly implemented and applied.
- Your starting point is KBC’s Compliance policies, which capture the essence of the regulations. Of course, you will also confer and work together with experienced Compliance Monitoring Officers and Compliance Advisors.
- You discuss checks with business stakeholders upfront and let them know what is expected of them. During your checks, you keep Compliance Management and the business stakeholders informed on your findings and discuss these with them.
- The result of your work is a report with findings and recommendations. Based on this report, business stakeholders will suggest improvements to the process. You discuss these with them and add concrete actions with timings.
- As you follow up on the realisation of these actions, you see the result of your work in action.
Your key strengths?

- You have a masters degree and experience in compliance, audit, operational risk or in financial markets, e.g. as a process manager.
- You have a thorough knowledge of at least one of the relevant regulations (GDPR, AI Act, etc.)
- You have a keen interest in financial markets and insurance
- You enjoy working towards results in a structured manner. No problem for you to organise your work efficiently.
- Your analytical skills help you to understand complex issues and find pragmatic solutions.
- You like working together with colleagues from different departments. Always constructively and without losing sight of your independence.
- You have great communication skills in English and in Dutch. When you explain something complex, everybody understands. And when people have different opinions or points of view, you get everyone on the same page again.
What can we offer you?
- You can count on a lot of variation and interesting projects, in an intellectually challenging environment. Your job serves an ethical purpose, which gives job satisfaction.
- We offer you an exceptional range of training and development opportunities so that you can develop your full potential. You are encouraged to keep growing as a person and professionally.
