Questions about Kate Coins

Kate Coins get you great discounts at KBC and also at our partners. 

There are two types of Kate Coins

  1. General use: you choose the benefit you redeem your Kate Coins for at KBC
  2. Specific use: you can only redeem these Kate Coins for a specific benefit at KBC or a partner (retailer)

Kate Coins also allow our partners to offer cashback rewards, which mean you get money back after your next purchase.

To earn and use Kate Coins, you must first activate ‘Personalised’ in your settings.

  • Tap your photo/cogwheel icon at the top left of your KBC Mobile screen
  • Scroll to ‘Security and privacy’
  • Tap ‘Privacy’ and then ‘Commercial settings’
  • Select ‘Personalised’ under ‘What offers would you like?’

You earn Kate Coins from KBC when you purchase or use certain products or perform certain actions.

You earn Kate Coins from our partners by buying products. Sometimes you do this on their website or in their shop, other times you may only need to follow a link (each benefit will tell you what you need to do).

  • Tap ‘Start’, then ‘KTC’ at the top left next to your favourites and select ‘Earn’
  • Tap ‘My KBC’, scroll down and tap ‘Kate Coins’ and then ‘Earn’

Tap ‘KBC’ or a partner to see what you can spend them on.

  • Tap ‘Start’, then ‘KTC’ at the top left next to your favourites and select ‘Use’ to see how many coins you can use at KBC or our partners
  • Tap ‘KBC’ or a partner to see what you can use them for

You can find your Kate Coins in the KBC Mobile app:

  • On your login screen
  • On your start screen (at the top left next to your accounts)
  • Under ‘My KBC’ (scroll to ‘Kate Coins’)
  • Under ‘Offer’

Whenever you purchase a product from KBC, you will earn Kate Coinss just for that purchase. You may earn coins more than once for performing certain actions in KBC Mobile.

You earn Kate Coins from our partners by buying products. Sometimes you do this on their website or in their shop, other times you may only need to follow a link (each benefit will tell you what you need to do).

Kate Coins earned from KBC jointly will be shared equally among everyone.

If you pay one of our partners from a joint account, one of the account holders will get all the Kate Coins earned.

It may take up to 48 hours for your Kate Coins from KBC to appear in KBC Mobile.

Kate Coins you earn from our partners appear either right away or after the return period has ended.

Cashbacks are discounts you receive in the form of a refund you get after purchasing a product or service.

Suppose you’ve earned 10 Kate Coins from one of our partners. The next time you shop there, you spend 100 euros. First you pay 100 euros, then we reduce your total coins by 10 and deposit 10 euros in your account. This means you end up paying just 90 euros.

It may take up to 48 hours for your cashback from KBC to appear in KBC Mobile.

Cashbacks you receive from our partners appear either right away or after the return period has ended.

Your cashback will be credited to a personal KBC Current Account.

Only individuals over the age of 18 who use KBC Mobile can earn Kate Coins.

There are a number of products or promotional campaigns for which you can use Kate Coins only once. The terms and conditions of our partners’ offers can be found on the relevant promotional campaign’s information page.

You only earn coins when you purchase new products or when you buy something during an offer period. Products bought or purchases made in the past do not count.

If you turn off push notifications in KBC Mobile, you will cease receiving commercial messages. Tap your photo/cogwheel icon at the top left of your screen, scroll to ‘Security and privacy’ and tap ‘Privacy’, then ‘Commercial settings’.

If you only want to turn off push notifications for Kate Coins, follow these steps:

  • Tap your photo/cogwheel icon at the top left of your screen
  • Scroll to ‘App settings’
  • Tap ‘Push notifications’
  • Turn off notifications under ‘Receive and use Kate Coins’

Your Kate Coins are only valid for a limited period. Tap the calendar icon to see how long your Kate Coins are still valid.

If you don’t want Kate Coins from KBC or our partners, tap your photo/cogwheel icon at the top left of your KBC Mobile screen, scroll to ‘Security and privacy’ and tap ‘Privacy’, then ‘Commercial settings’. Select ‘Standard’ under ‘What offers would you like?’.

Our partners give you Kate Coins without you making a purchase.

Some partners only give Kate Coins to new customers, while others only give them to existing customers. Our partners can also choose to offer Kate Coins only to customers in the province  where their shop is located.

Your Kate Coins are always displayed first in your favourites. You cannot change that as it allows you to quickly see what benefits and cashbacks are available to you.
